Temporary Exhibition – By the Light of the Torah

In the Light of the Torah – Diverse Orthodox Jewish Life Before the Era of Peril
On Sunday, March 15, at 3:00 PM, an exciting exhibition will open in the synagogue, presenting the Orthodox Jewish world before the Holocaust. The exhibition is a traveling exhibition of the HDKE – Holocaust Documentation Center and Memorial Collection, supplemented by the history and documents of the former Orthodoxy of Szeged.
The aim of the exhibition is to provide a closer look at the worldview of Orthodox Judaism and to challenge prejudicial images, with particular attention to everyday life and community traditions.
We thank the following for their professional assistance:
Dr. habil. Glässer Norbert – habil. associate professor (SZTE BTK, HDKE)
Dr. Balázs Fényes – associate professor and honorary professor (ORZSE, SZTE BTK)
Dr. Krisztina Frauhammer – historian, archivist
Vera Ábrahám – librarian
The temporary exhibition can be visited until 30.03.2026, with a synagogue entrance ticket.
The exhibition will be opened by: Dr. Balázs Fényes, associate professor, honorary professor (ORZSE, SZTE-BTK)
After the opening, a curatorial tour will be given by Dr. habil. Norbert Glässer, associate professor (SZTE-BTK, HDKE)
